WICHITA, Kan. – The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has awarded a Cargill Special Scholarship to Jessica Davis. Davis, a 2008 graduate of Wichita High School Northwest, has been named a Cargill Special Scholar by National Merit. She is the child of Cargill employee Jennifer Davis and Michael Davis, and plans to attend California Institute of Technology in Pasadena in the fall.
“Jessica has proven to be an exceptional student,” said Bill Rupp of Cargill Beef in Wichita. “Cargill is pleased to support education in our communities because youth are tomorrow’s workforce and our future community leaders. Good luck to the Class of 2008.”
Each year, National Merit Scholarship Corporation awards renewable undergraduate scholarships to 10 sons and daughters of Cargill employees in the United States through the Cargill National Merit Scholarship Program. Students are selected based on test scores, as well as academic achievement, extracurricular activities and leadership roles. Cargill has supported the National Merit scholarship program since 1965, one of three scholarship programs for high-school students Cargill offers in the United States.
