Cargill and Excel helping local rescue crews improve safety equipment

WICHITA, KS, July 17, 2002 - A grant of $20,000 made by Cargill and its subsidiary Excel Corporation will be used to help local fire and EMS crews update equipment to improve public safety in Ford County.

"We are very pleased to assist local fire and rescue personnel update equipment to serve area residents - the funds contributed by Excel and Cargill will be used toward the purchase of emergency exhaust systems for rescue vehicles, "said Dan Schnitker, general manager of Excel's Dodge City facility. "Excel is committed to projects, like this one, that help to enrich Dodge City and we look forward to future opportunities for partnerships within the community."

This contribution was jointly funded by Excel in Dodge City and the Cargill Partnership Fund, a corporate program that matches contributions made by Cargill facilities to support special projects and services in their communities.

Excel in Dodge City is among the largest beef processing plants in the country and distributes quality beef products to retail and commercial service markets around the world.
