Cargill and Excel Support Youth Reading Program in Dodge City

DODGE CITY, Kan. -- Cargill and its Excel subsidiary have donated $2,000 to Miller Elementary School here to help purchase new books for Reading is Fun, a program designed to help improve reading comprehension and test scores among students at the school.
"The Miller school is trying to improve reading skills and make learning fun for their students through this program," said Gayle Ausmus, plant representative at the Excel beef -processing plant here. "Excel and Cargill are happy to support programs that promote literacy and education among our youth."
This contribution was jointly funded by Excel in Dodge City and the Cargill Partnership Fund, a corporate program that matches contributions made by Cargill facilities to support special projects and services in their communities.
Excel in Dodge City is among the largest beef processing plants in the country and distributes meat worldwide.
